Home care provider Abbots Care is preparing to welcome new service users and staff after being awarded a reablement contract by Hertfordshire County Council.

Under the contract, Abbots Care reablement services, previously known as Specialist Care at Home, will play a part in the integration between health and social care systems in Hertfordshire by supporting hospital discharges, preventing admission to hospital from the community and partnering with health and community services.

The new reablement contract will see service users and care staff transfer from care provider Care By Us over to Abbots Care this month.

Abbots Care managing director Camille Leavold: “At Abbots Care we encourage, develop and recognise the importance of the care workforce and our Hertfordshire branch have been working round the clock to ensure new staff and staff transferring from Care By Us have access to flexible working patterns and career development opportunities with us.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming new service users and delivering the outstanding person-centred care services we are recognised for.”

Abbots Care’s Hertfordshire branch is rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and promises to deliver a “five star” reablement service to meet the personal wellbeing needs of service users and deliver continuity of care.

The provider said its specialist training pathways available for care workers mean their care workers can offer flexible support for their service users and a home care service that is responsive to the level of demand and complexity of service user’s care needs.

Abbots Care also operates two other branches in Buckinghamshire and Dorset.
