Since launching Radfield Home Care in 2008, Alex Green has been figurehead for quality care, immediately recognising the need to modernise, with carers’ wellbeing at its heart.
He has always said that carer wellbeing is the only way to guarantee quality care for clients and, as a result, initiated Radfield’s unique Caring for our Carers pledge. From a Real Living Wage accreditation to pizza-Fridays, this pledge meant Radfield had an impressive 6% staff turnover rate in 2020, versus an industry average of 30-40%.
From day one, when the home care industry was still predominantly paper-based, Alex worked with the first home care technology providers, developing early iterations of now common-placed paperless care management software.
Today, Alex continues to develop Radfield’s technology-based services. Overseeing comprehensive product testing, Alex ensures outcomes of new technologies focus on improvements to the clients’ quality of life and carer wellbeing. If these outcomes are not met, technology is rejected.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Alex was a founding member of ‘Zero Rated VAT for Social Care’, lobbying parliament to make it fairer for care organisations to buy essential PPE and related goods. This campaign raised sector awareness and is still ongoing.
