Ben Ashton founded Good Oaks, a home care franchise based in Poole, Dorset, after working as a carer for a provider that didn’t value or support its care staff.
That experience informed Good Oaks’ employment ethos of ‘providing quality care at home by valuing, developing and rewarding the caring people who work with us’.
Ben continues to lead Good Oaks’ expansion through the pandemic, with all franchisees experiencing growth throughout 2020. The numbers of Good Oaks offices also continues to rise, from four at the start of 2020 to 11 trading offices today, and a strong pipeline of new offices preparing to open throughout 2021.
Office openings and organic growth have been reflected in an increase in revenue of 57% year on year and a move to a larger support office next month, cementing Good Oaks as a challenger brand to more established franchise networks.
In response to the unfolding climate catastrophe, Ben has shown sector leadership in committing Good Oaks to be the UK’s only franchise network to be 100% carbon neutral, with external accreditation in the measurement, reduction and offsetting of carbon emissions of all its offices and carer mileage. He has regularly discussed the hidden environmental impact of home care and highlighted approaches to mitigate these impacts.
