Home care software supplier Birdie has been chosen to partner with NHSX to roll out a care worker app that will help providers identify confirmed or suspected infections among the people they care for.
Birdie was selected as one of the 18 digital solutions to be awarded funding under the TechForce19 challenge, a government scheme focussed on creating a pool of technologies that support vulnerable people in the community.
The new app, which is integrated with the NHS111 online symptom checker, is the first of its kind to provide carers and care managers with online medical guidance in real time, and is regularly updated by the NHS to stay up to date with Public Health England and government recommendations.
Care managers will be alerted if any symptoms are recorded as positive, and be able to take the necessary actions instantly.
“We’re extremely proud to announce that we’ve been chosen to partner with NHSX to roll out a care worker app, fully integrated with the NHS111 online symptom checker, to help care providers during COVID-19,” said Laetitia Van Hoecke, head of marketing at Birdie.
As well as launching the new care worker app, Birdie has been hosting COVID-19-related webinars to support providers through the crisis, and is offering its core services, including eMAR, digital care logs and a family app, free of charge.
