Bluebird Care Bristol has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission after a quality improvement drive.
The care provider was given the top rating following a three-day inspection in October and November.
At the last comprehensive inspection in August 2016, the service was rated as Good.
Bluebird Care Bristol provide services to older adults and those with mental health, physical disability or sensory impairment needs, including dementia care, respite care, end of life support, live-in care and night care.
The provider was rated Outstanding for being ‘caring’ and ‘responsive’ and Good for being ‘safe’, ‘effective and ‘well-led’.
The CQC report said people and relatives all praised the responsiveness of the service. They said where they had needed to make changes or improvements these had “all been listened and responded to”.
Inspectors said the provider looked for ways to continually improve the quality of care and ensured they met the fundamental standards of care. For example, the way that meetings were conducted had recently be reviewed.
Staff now hold shorter, and more open ‘huddles’ to engage with all of the team in a positive way. Feedback about these new approaches from staff was universally positive, with employees saying communication had “really improved” and they felt “even more valued”.
The service was found to be “exceptionally caring”, and across the board, staff, customers, relatives and health care professionals gave high praise.
