Organisers behind the Care Sector Fundraising Ball have promised a ‘heroic’ night of celebration for its 2021 date following the postponement of this year’s event.

The ball, which was due to take place next month, has been postponed due to coronavirus.

But organisers have assured care sector professionals that they can look forward to “an incredible night” when it returns in April.

Organising committee chair and chairman of Hallmark Care Homes, Avnish Goyal, said: “Not only will we deliver our promise to raise an amazing amount for our charity partners, the Care Workers Charity and the Alzheimer’s Society, but we will celebrate our truly heroic frontline teams and their awe-inspiring hard work, dedication and unwavering resilience shown during the Covid-19 pandemic”.

Jonathan Freeman, vice chair of the Organising Committee and CEO of the CareTech Foundation recognised the utmost importance of keeping everyone safe as the reason to postpone the event.

He commented: “Whilst we understand the huge disappointment felt across the sector, respecting social distancing to prevent the spread of the infection must remain our main priority.”

Chair of the Ball Committee and trustee of the Hallmark Care Homes Foundation, Anita Goyal, said: “April’s event will be an exceptional night where we will bring everyone together to share and celebrate the amazing achievements of our colleagues and friends across what is becoming known as a truly inspirational sector.”

Since its inception in 2018, the Care Sector Fundraising Ball has raised £348,000 for charities including Alzheimer’s Society and The Care Workers Charity.

For 2021, organisers have their sights set on hitting their £500,000 target.

The Fundraising Ball will now take place on Saturday, April 24 at the Grosvenor House Hotel Great Room, Park Lane, London. BBC London News presenter and reporter Asad Ahmad has been confirmed as host for the event.
