Care Sourcer, a free comparison and matching site for elderly care, has launched a COVID-19 industry task force in the face of what its CEO and co-founder describes as the “worst health crisis” facing the country in “generations”.
As NHS discharge teams work to free up hospital beds for coronavirus patients, Care Sourcer is asking care providers to add their business details online as it actively works with local councils and authorities to help find care home and care-at-home options for hundreds of elderly people.
The company is also collecting data from home care agencies across the UK to understand their capacity to take on new clients as care home places become scarcer.
This information is being made directly available to local authorities and the NHS to enable them to find suitable care for people in need quickly and safely.
Care Sourcer has also broadened the availability of its Employee Assistance Programme so that care workers, as well as their employers, can sign up to it.
Care Sourcer CEO and co-founder Andrew Parfery said: “We have set aside some of our other business plans in order to rapidly do whatever we can to help, including offering our free EAP to all UK care workers in this, their time of greatest need.
“Although the health department has committed funding to care providers, the industry as a whole now needs to pull together more than ever in the face of what could be the greatest health crisis to face this country in a century. Everyone is struggling, everyone is gravely worried and we need action plans to protect our elderly.”
