The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) will join thousands of organisations taking part in this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, to be held on 30 November.

Brought to the UK in 2014 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), this year #GivingTuesday offers the opportunity to give back to good causes, either by donating to charity, reaffirming commitment to a cause, volunteering time or supporting others by simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member.

The CWC said it was proud to be an official partner of #GivingTuesday this year, after paying out £2 million in COVID-19 Emergency Fund Grants and £200,000 in Crisis Grants to over 3,000 care workers in need in 2020.

Karolina Gerlich, CEO of the CWC, said: “As the only charity in the UK created solely for Care Workers we are so grateful to our supporters to help us do what we do. We’re thrilled to be an official partner of giving Tuesday which we hope will help raise awareness and encourage fundraising efforts which are vital to our ability to provide as many care workers as possible with much needed financial and emotional support”

In 2020 #GivingTuesday was the top trending item on UK Twitter and generated more than 360 million impressions. In the UK, more than £20 million was raised in online donations, more than ever before.

Andy Frain, #GivingTuesday UK Lead at the CAF, added: “We’re all looking forward to moving on from the pandemic as soon as it is safe to do so, but it’s so important we remember the work done to help keep communities going over the last year and a half. Giving Tuesday is a great chance to Give Back to the charities and causes that we care about, and thank them for overcoming some immense challenges over the course of this pandemic.

“People can give in so many ways and we’re always amazed at the diversity of people’s generosity – whether it is donating money, volunteering time or just amplifying your support for a charity, any act of Giving can make all the difference to a cause you care about.”
