Care workers fundraise for Australian bushfire relief effort

Healthcare Homes fundraising

Care workers from across the UK have joined the swell of support around the world to help communities and animals affected by the Australian bushfires.

Staff at Healthcare Homes, which operates 12 home care branches and 37 care homes in East Anglia and the South of England, are being encouraged to join fundraising efforts by hosting events within their communities.

A number of homes have arranged fundraising activities to coincide with the official Australia Day on January 26, and are inviting local people, friends, relatives and staff to join them in coming together to raise money for the Australian Red Cross.

Anthony Beorby, operations director at Healthcare Homes Group said: “We have been absolutely devastated by the images from Australia.  We can only imagine what the local communities have been going through when dealing with this unprecedented natural disaster, and it is awful to see the impact this is having on the natural landscape and the country’s incredible wildlife.

“As a group, we have a strong commitment to charitable causes and many of our homes proudly fundraise throughout the year. We’ve therefore been very keen to show our support in whatever way we can.  I would ask anyone near to a home that is hosting a fundraising event to consider popping along, or to join our efforts in contributing to the Australian Red Cross, which is doing such wonderful work to support those affected.”
