CASE STUDY: How CareFree helped Poppy’s Homecare achieve Outstanding CQC ratings

CareFree Management, an all-in-one software solution, has shared how its technology helped a home care company based in Somerset achieve two ‘Outstanding’ CQC ratings.

In 2006, Poppy’s Homecare was looking for an efficient and reliable rostering system to help build the business from scratch.

When it came to choosing a company, managing director Alistair Milton, who had just started the company, said CareFree was an obvious choice. He was not only impressed with the functionalities of a simple rostering system, but the quality of service and the uptime CareFree offered.

By using the main tools within CareFree, the supplier helped Poppy’s successfully manage the growth of the business whilst reinforcing CQC compliance. These features include rostering, finance, HR and the extensive range of reports which save staff valuable time so they can deliver care to the highest level.

In 2017, Poppy’s achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC, and then again in 2020, with the help of CareFree.

“The CareFree system is a tried and tested formula. We would not ever be looking to change as it has everything we need,” said Milton. “CareFree provided us with easy access to all the reports the CQC Inspector wanted and client logs as evidence.”

As well as CareFree’s main tools, Poppy’s has also integrated Road Runner, the supplier’s real-time Electronic Call Monitoring system.

The app has a host of features, including two-way communication between carers and a provider’s office. It also raises alerts to ensure calls are never missed and clients are safe within their homes, and provides data to use for KPI and Local Authority requirements.

Milton added: “The Roadrunner App also saves a lot of time when changing rotas at the last minute and dramatically cuts down the paper we use.

“I am very proud of CareFree as they have supported us throughout our journey and helped us grow from 18 carers in 2009 to 60 carers in 2021.”
