An annual celebration of the social care sector has been rescheduled to next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The second North Yorkshire Celebrate Social Care event, which was due to take place in October, will now be held at Scarborough Spa in October 2021.
Organiser Mike Padgham (pictured left) said attendees can look forward to a “huge party” next year.
“It will be a fantastic event, truly honouring those amazing people in social care who, alongside their colleagues in the NHS, have performed miracles helping the country to fight COVID-19,” he added.
Last year’s event, which attracted some 500 people from social care, raised £2,000, which was split between four charities: Saint Catherine’s Hospice, Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia Forward.
Padgham said: “We were absolutely gutted to have to cancel the second Celebrate Social Care event this autumn. But it is out of our control and now we are turning our attention to hosting a bigger and better Celebrate Social Care event in 2021.”
North Yorkshire County Council has agreed to be the principal supporter of next October’s event and are calling on other organisations, businesses and individuals to step up and sponsor next year’s Celebrate Social Care.
