The Fremantle Trust, a provider of dementia care, supported living and residential services, has appointed Laura Wood to the position of director of Care Quality and Compliance.
With a wealth of experience in senior roles spanning elderly care, mental health and learning disabilities, Wood joins the Trust to oversee its care strategy, workforce development and clinical governance.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am really excited to be joining the team at the Trust and hope to contribute to its success and performance. Working alongside the leadership team, my focus will be on supporting and empowering employees and the people in our care, ensuring an uncompromising commitment to quality at every level.”
Wood began her career as a community nurse and went on to become a strategic health lead in the NHS tackling health inequalities for vulnerable groups and intensive prison in reach work.
She has held management roles in nursing services for people with learning disabilities as well as within a complex care centre for older people. More recently, she has worked in senior positions within quality, regulation and compliance, where her passion truly lies.
She joins a strong leadership team at the Trust under the direction of Chief Executive, Sara Livadeas, and will be tasked with leading on the development and implementation of strategies for care aspirations, placing residents and service-users at the heart of these.
Livadeas said: “We are thrilled to welcome Laura to the Trust. We’re looking forward to working with her to drive up quality across the Trust to make sure we deliver excellent person-centred care. She will be a great addition to the team.”
