GOOD CARE NEWS: Home care client ‘overwhelmed’ over winning poetry competition

A home care service user based in Devon is said to be “overwhelmed” after winning a poetry competition launched to help clients express their emotions after a difficult year.

CareYourWay, an independent provider delivering home care in the South West of England, introduced the scheme on June 3 and chose client, Stevie M, as the winner.

Jonathan Sabater, marketing director at CareYourWay, said: “We feel that running competitions and schemes like these is so important – all of our clients are incredibly talented, and offering them an opportunity to share their passion is so wonderful to see.

“Whilst delighted that the scheme had been so well received, judging the competition had just been made that more difficult as the quality of entries were fantastic.”

After being declared the winner, Stevie M was delivered a glass trophy alongside a bouquet of flowers. She also won a local fish and chip meal, accompanied by one of her friends.

CareYourWay shared this story as part of our Good Care News series launched in January 2020.
