An Oxfordshire care provider has been named Employer of the Year at the Thames Valley Business and Community Awards.
Mumby’s Homecare Support picked up the prestigious award at a ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Reading on January 31, beating 10 other businesses.
The family-run company, led by registered Nurse Ann Mumby, was recognised for its higher than average staff retention and a 100% referral rate.
Judges were also impressed by the company’s constant drive to look for improvements and its ability to produce training for industry professionals.
Commenting on the win, Ann said: “It’s just so unexpected. We really value our staff and have a great team who have been with us for ages. To be nominated is enough, but to win was such a thrill.”
Ann Mumby is the director of Mumby’s Homecare Support, while her husband Trevor is the company’s dementia trainer and co-director.
Their son, Joel, has worked with the business since he was a teenager and now sits on the board as operations director.
As a closely run family business, it is the family values and attention to the smallest detail that sets Mumby’s apart from other care agencies, the company said in a statement.
This enables the business to respond quickly and combine great flexibility with a strong focus on excellent patient care, Mumby’s added.
