Home care staff urged to take part in flu vaccine survey

NHS England has developed a new survey to gain a better understanding of the levels of flu vaccination uptake in the social care workforce.

People from across the workforce, including home care professionals, are being asked to take part in the survey to help support future plans for the programme and ensure the health and social care system is resilient during the winter period.

The survey has been developed in a partnership between the Care Provider Alliance, the Care Association Alliance, Hospice UK, the Local Government Association and Skills for Care to help provide an estimate of the uptake of flu vaccination across the social care and hospice workforce in 2018/19.

The partners said ensuring that staff are vaccinated against flu helps protect patients and residents, and the staff who care for them.

NHS England now routinely offers the flu vaccine to social care and hospice workers through GPs and community pharmacies, to complement occupational health programmes provided by employers, to help increase vaccine uptake.

Click here to take part in the survey by August 5.
