Care provider Home Instead has launched a new social media initiative in support of The Silver Line, the UK’s only confidential telephone helpline for older people.
‘Home Challenges’ is based on Dame Esther Rantzen’s show That’s Life!, and will ask the UK to contribute to a different challenge every week via social media.
The first week saw Rantzen challenge the population to share photos and videos of their talented pets.
The original TV programme That’s Life! ran for 21 seasons from 1973-1994 with Dame Esther Rantzen as its host.
She commented on the Home Challenges campaign: “I canāt wait to see peopleās entries to Home Challenges.
āWeāve all got to try to have some fun whilst our movements are restricted and thatās what this is all about. If we can raise some funds for The Silver Line in doing so, all the better.ā
The campaign can be followed on Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #HomeChallenges.
Meanwhile, Martin Jones, CEO of Home Instead, commented: āWe are hoping that our Home Challenges campaign brings some fun and joy into peopleās lives over the next few weeks. All of the challenges can be done in the comfort of your own home with a focus on spreading happiness.
āWe are delighted to have Dame Esther Rantzen supporting the campaign, as it is loosely based on her show, Thatās Life!, where viewers regularly shared humorous poems or, notably, the antics of their talented pets.
āWe will be raising money in aid of the Silver Line to support its work helping isolated and lonely people.”
