Dr Jane Townson has led United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHA) for two years, bringing an essential mix of leadership, analysis, and previous experience as a home care and residential service provider.
Jane is known for being highly approachable and for balancing the urgency of pressing issues – including funding and recognition of the workforce – with a focus on ensuring that home-based care will meet the future needs of all of us.
Jane delivers impactful messages which challenge shortfalls in the system, while also highlighting the art of the possible. She also has a significant media presence, both in front of the camera and helping print and broadcast journalists explain complex issues to the public.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Jane and her team have ensured that home care providers have received accurate and up-to-date information, prioritising what will make the biggest difference at scale.
Regular online events, drawing audiences of 400-500 delegates, have ensured that UKHCA can inform the market about rapid changes in response to the pandemic, while enabling providers to flag challenges which UKHCA champions at a national level.
Jane’s work with local government at the start of the pandemic ensured that councils took actions to maintain a stable provider market several months before central government made funding available.
