A home care service based in the Lake District has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, just 14 months after launching.
Home Instead Senior Care South Lakes, which serves people across Kendal, Grange-Over-Sands, Windermere and Ambleside, was given the top accreditation for being caring and responsive.
In their report, inspectors praised the service for having a strong person-centred and community-based ethos and noted that every service-user they spoke to was “overwhelmingly positive” about the “compassionate and highly individualised” care and support they received.
Judy Clay, who runs the service with her husband Will, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the rating, and the stories and comments captured in the report make it all the more special. To have received such overwhelmingly positive feedback on our first ever CQC inspection is very encouraging.”
Inspectors also acknowledged the service’s close links with local support organisations helping older people and the wider community.
“One of the initiatives we have organised alongside Cumbria police is our free fraud and scam awareness workshops which we hold across South Lakes,” said Judy.
“Will and I are proud of our team and the work that they do every day to improve people’s lives. One client described them in the report as ‘kindness itself’ and we love that; we couldn’t agree more.”
