A family-run home care service based in Garstang, Lancashire, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
Bowland Care Services, which was described as “exceptional” by its clients, was given the top rating for being caring and well-led and was rated ‘Good’ for being safe, effective and responsive.
At the previous inspection in September 2016, it was found to be ‘Good’ overall, with caring being rated ‘Outstanding’.
Inspectors said in their latest report that they were repeatedly told by service users and their relatives that the provider continued to be “very caring”.
The service was described as “exceptional” and “head and shoulders above the rest”, and clients told inspectors that staff routinely went “above and beyond” to ensure people were happy and safe.
Helena Dennett, head of Adult Social Care inspection, said: “This is a fantastic result for this service. They have continued to provide outstanding person-centred care, making a real difference to people’s lives, but also worked to improve the way the service is led.
“We saw staff maintaining the quality of care we previously reported on and the people they supported continued to praise the care they received. There was a clear vision set out by the leadership to provide outstanding care, supporting all staff to provide high-quality care. Congratulations to everyone involved, a well-deserved result.”
Bowland Care Services was also described as an important part of the community. In April, it was handed the Community Business of the Year Award by the Garstang Town Council for its efforts in making a difference to the people it supports and the wider community.
