The winner of the Care Home Executive of the Year Award goes to Paul Newman, CEO of Greensleeves Care.
This award, sponsored by CoolCare, honours the senior executives who have provided inspired leadership on a company and sector wide level and driven their organisations to achieve great things over the past year.
Since joining Greensleeves Care as Chief Executive in 2013, Paul has led a strategy of sustainable growth through a planned programme of acquisitions and developments. As a result, Greensleeves Care has diversified its services and doubled the number of older people it supports. Quality Improvement lies at the heart of Greensleeves Care’s success and the provider has won numerous coveted awards during Paul’s time at the helm.
This year, Greensleeves Care received a Top 20 Large Care Provider award from carehome.co.uk and two of its homes, Borovere and Torkington House, were rated the UK’s number one and number three care homes nationally in the independent Your Care Rating survey. In 2015, Paul established the in-house Greensleeves Centre for Quality and Innovation to drive continuous improvement and service innovation.
Innovation is not just restricted to care services. Greensleeves Care successfully issued the first ever care sector retail charity bond, raising £50 million on the London Stock Exchange in less than a week. Outside Greensleeves Care, Paul makes a broader contribution to the UK’s care sector. He is Chairman of the UK Standards Committee on Ageing Societies, developing British and global standards to support older people, as well as representing the UK overseas.
On winning the award, Paul said: “It’s fantastic. It’s great recognisiton for the whole team – all the frontline staff, everybody in the homes and everybody in the head office. It really is a great achievement.”
