Mike Campling is the brains behind the ‘Ascot Care Focus Care Call’ initiative to improve life for home care clients as lockdown restrictions ease and clients gain more freedom. The initiative works by offering a free visit once a month.
The process starts with some research gained through the completion of person-centred plans. This information then assists as a guide to help choose an activity to carry out with the client.
The Focus Care Call is then designed to enable a carer to spend one-on-one time doing something that sits outside of their normal care routines and focuses on an interest that is important to the client, no matter how big or small, such as painting or watching live sport.
Ascot Care then spends time after the call to check with all involved, to see how effective the call was and if it managed to achieve what it was set out to do, and how the project can keep evolving and improving.
