A new online booklet has been released to assist care providers and clinicians in preventing pressure ulcers.
The Pressure Ulcer Prevention Advisory Board, supported by an educational grant by BBI Europe, has collated all pressure ulcer prevention intelligence to create a centralised resource for care professionals.
It comes on the back of NHS findings that pressure ulcers are the most reported cause of harm in the NHS, costing more than £3.8 million a day, and that around 2,000 patients per month develop pressure ulcers.
The advisory board said that with the “plethora” of papers on pressure ulcer prevention, and various “common myths” associated with prevention, healthcare professionals, patients and their families struggle to find the right guidance. It therefore decided to publish credible insight in one central location.
Kate Hancock, vice president of Marketing and Communications at BBI Europe said, “We hope that this booklet will be a valuable resource for all health care professionals involved in pressure ulcer prevention, so we have made it free to download and easy to share as an educational resource.”
