A sector-wide initiative has launched to celebrate care workers during a dedicated hour each week.

The social media campaign, organised by Stratford Projects, will run across the Home Care Awards’ and Care Home Awards’ Twitter feeds, and will encourage all providers and industry suppliers to share positive stories using the hashtag #CareChampions.

The initiative will kick off at 12pm today, and care professionals will be encouraged to post about the inspiring things they have achieved at the same time each week.

Helen Warrilow, commercial director at Stratford Projects, said: “We hope this initiative will help to spread a positive image of the social care sector throughout the UK, sharing how hard teams are working so that the individuals being supported in care settings across the UK can lead fulfilling lives, even throughout national or local lockdowns.

“The use of the single hashtag will allow others to view all the incredible work happening across the sector and to build momentum for this initiative, which we hope will generate national media interest once a groundswell of support begins. It would be fantastic if, by all taking part at once, we can get this campaign trending on social media.”
