Newcross Healthcare has launched a free healthcare plan to ensure its staff have easy access to medical appointments when they need them.
The care provider, which offers complex care services to people in their own homes, said the myHealthPlan app gives care workers and office staff access to virtual appointments with NHS-registered GPs and mental health support.
According to a recent survey from the Royal College of Physicians, 70% of its members believe that at least some of their appointments could be carried out by video consultations.
Despite this, NHS-run healthcare services are currently limited by a lack of funding in digital technology to support them.
“Thanks to our investment in the myHealthPlan, all staff will have access to the Virtual GP app,” Newcross said in a statement.
“Appointments will include all the same features as an in-person GP appointment, but with additional benefits, such as unlimited access to the service, medication delivered directly to your door and advice from the comfort of your own home.”
Specialist mental health support offered via the app includes telephone counselling, up to eight face-to-face counselling sessions and online counselling.
And myHealthPlan’s artificial intelligence counsellor, Woebot, allows Newcross staff to track their mood and identify behaviour patterns to gain an insight into any issues that may be causing emotional destress.
Healthcare staff are eligible for the plan after working 180 hours, and for office staff, after their successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
