Nobilis acquires Universal Care, eyes expansion across South East

Nobilis, a fast-growing home care business based in Southampton, has announced the acquisition of Universal Care.

The company intends to build on Universal Care’s existing office team and 100-plus field based carers to further expand operations across Beaconsfield, Amersham & Aylesbury, Marlow & Maidenhead and Windsor.

The acquisition comes after a year of rapid growth at Nobilis. In 2020, the company acquired eight home care businesses, including Mineral Care, Kensington Care, Elite Care and Avida in Gloucestershire, BrightSpark in Surrey, SR Homecare in Bristol, as well as Carefirst and D. Care on the Isle of Wight.

Earlier this year, Nobilis also secured a £30 million contract to provide services to residents on the Isle of Wight.

Commenting on the latest acquisition, Nobilis CEO Peter Harrington said: “Nobilis is very proud to bring Universal Care into the business, securing the long-term future of the team and the important work they do within the Beaconsfield community and beyond. We are fully committed to continuing the legacy built over 30 years by Peter Cullimore and his team ensuring that the continuity and quality of care is uninterrupted, while being able to plan for future expansion and investment.”

Peter Cullimore, chairman of Universal Care, said:  “I am really pleased to be handing over the reins of Universal Care to Nobilis.  Having met their senior team, I know their philosophy is very similar to ours, and that continuity of care is a priority for us all.   As a family run business, run on family values, Nobilis place the clients and the carer at the centre of everything they do and their technology and training programmes will allow the team to do what they do best – caring for our clients.”
