A domiciliary care agency based in Northumberland has been rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
Northumberland Mid & North Domiciliary Care Agency, which is part of the Royal Menap Society, was given the top rating for services that are effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Safe services were rated as ‘good’ at the time of inspection in November.
Rosalind Sanderson, head of Inspection (North East and Coast) for Adult Social Care said the provider has made steps to improve its services after receiving an overall ‘good’ rating in 2016.
“This is a provider that has endeavoured to continually improve the service for the benefit of the people it supports, they should be very proud of their achievement,” she added.
“Our inspectors found that people felt included in their care and were involved in decisions affecting the running of the service. The service clearly valued this input and tailored the support to provide the best possible care and develop best practice.
“People were supported to develop life goals and driven to realise them in a caring and compassionate way. The people we spoke with, and staff, told us how much of a difference the service had made to their lives.”
Northumberland Mid & North Domiciliary Care Agency provides personal care and support to adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health problems.
At the time of the inspection, 13 people were receiving support with personal care from the service.
