PPE Portal increases maximum order levels for small care providers

Sentence-for-Social-care-v2-01

The government has increased the number of PPE items that small care providers can order from its free online portal.

Domiciliary care providers with 20 to 99 clients can now order 300 IIR masks, 600 aprons and 600 pairs of gloves per week from the PPE portal.

Those with fewer than 20 clients can order 200 IIR masks, 400 aprons and 800 gloves (400 pairs) per week.

Providers, who need to be invited to join the portal, can now also place multiple orders weekly, up to the limits above.

Previously, care providers with 99 clients or less could only order one combined pack containing 100 IIR masks, 400 aprons and 400 pairs of gloves per week, or up to this amount of separate items.

The government re-iterated that providers should continue using business-as-usual and wholesaler routes to access PPE and only use the PPE portal as an emergency top-up system.
