A franchise recruitment manager for Radfield Home Care has stepped down from his role to launch a new home care service under the brand.

Ed Gill, who has spent nearly four years working for the organisation’s national office, supporting other business owners to operate quality-focused home care services, has opened the new Radfield Home Care location covering York, Thirsk and Ryedale.

Commenting on the move, he said: “I have worked with multiple home care businesses and I have always felt there was a need for an organisation with a real focus on employee-wellbeing. Care professionals are some of the hardest working, passionate and loyal people I have come across, and all too often they are undervalued and underappreciated. As a result, this has a huge impact on the quality of care clients receive – after all, how can we expect care professionals to support our clients, if we don’t support them?

“I want to change that here in York, Thirsk and rural Ryedale. I want to support our clients to remain connected to their local communities, their identities and their sense of purpose, and to achieve that we must empower and support our care professionals. They will receive great rates of pay well above the Real Living Wage; ongoing training, support and personal development; and genuine reward and recognition for their hard work.”

The latest Radfield Home Care location will be recruiting dozens of staff over the coming months, helping ease the pressures of the social care crisis for North Yorkshire residents.

Radfield Home Care co-founder Dr Hannah MacKechnie, commented: “I have worked with Ed for many years as he has helped us expand our national network and supported business owners to deliver high-quality care services with exceptional care professionals.

“Ed has always had a passion for supporting care professionals and was instrumental in developing our unique employee wellbeing programme, the Caring for our Carers pledge as well as developing our care and support services. I can speak from experience when I say Radfield Home Care York, Thirsk & Ryedale’s clients and care professionals will receive the highest standards of support from Ed and the team.”
