The Social Care Institute for Excellence has partnered with everyLIFE Technologies to publish the first independent evaluation of a digital care planning system.
The evaluation of the PASSsystem care planning system, launched yesterday at the Dementia, Care & Nursing Home Expo, highlights that going digital will be a key factor in a ‘fit for the future’ service.
Taffy Gatawa, Chief Information and Compliance Officer with everyLIFE, said: “We were really keen to evidence some benefits from customers using the PASSsystem.”
Bruce Hiscock, CEO of everyLIFE Technologies, added: “Our early belief in ‘better’ was instinctive, based on our own experiences of care provision but we lacked independent evidence. In 2017, we commissioned SCIE, in partnership with York Consulting, to undertake an independent evaluation of the PASSsystem.”
The assessment found the PASSsystem helped deliver significant improvements for care home managers and carers in the areas of: risk management; efficiency; quality of care; accountability; and financial savings.
Comments from care staff included: “It enables us to be more responsive,” “I like how you can see what tasks are completed”, “It frees up more time to spend with service users and less time on administration,” “It promotes better continuity of care”, and “I get a better understanding of the service user.”
SCIE’s chief operating officer, Ewan King, said: “The evaluation results of everyLIFE’s PASSsystem evidence that: care providers can better manage risk by adopting the PASSsystem; the PASSsystem can help care providers deliver high quality care; the PASSsystem enables care providers to demonstrate accountability to the people in their care, their families and to regulators; and care providers can realise business efficiencies by using the PASSsystem.
