Second ‘Outstanding’ rating for Home Instead branch

Home Instead Rugby

Home Instead Senior Care in Rugby has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the second time in three years.

Established in 2014, the Rugby branch received the top rating for being effective, caring and responsive – an improvement on its first inspection when it was rated ‘Outstanding’ for effective and well-led services, and Good for safe, caring and responsive services.

Inspectors noted in their report that the feedback from clients and their families was “overwhelmingly positive” with a consistent theme that people felt cared for and that caring for them was “more than just a job” for staff.

“People were at the heart of everything,” the report said. “Their packages of care were bespoke and staff went the extra mile to ensure people remained safely in their own homes and in control of their lives.”

Inspectors also noted that staff received “exceptional training” and the provider continually looked at new and innovative training methods to support staff.

Many examples of compassion are given in the report. Inspectors described an instance when a Home Instead carer volunteered to stay with a client overnight so that they could avoid a stay in hospital.

In another, a client was supported by their carer to help her with her health and fitness by accompanying them on trips to the gym, on walks and planning healthy meals.

Commenting on the double ‘Outstanding’ accreditation, Sarah Slater said: “I couldn’t be more pleased and proud of my incredible team. I knew they were outstanding even before our first inspection in 2016 but to have this confirmed and now reconfirmed by the industry’s governing body is just fantastic.

“We are so proud to care for others; it’s just what we do naturally. It is seeing our safe, happy, comfortable clients and the peace of mind we are giving to their family and friends that makes each and every day just wonderful.”

Home Instead managing director Martin Jones said: “We extend our congratulations to Sarah Slater and her team, who consistently go the extra mile for their clients.

“To achieve one Outstanding rating is exceptional, but to achieve two is just phenomenal. All of us at Home Instead are very proud of this accomplishment, and we offer our whole-hearted congratulations to Sarah and her entire team on their success.”
