A Shropshire home care provider has been rated “the best in the county” by the Care Quality Commission following a recent inspection.
Allcare Shropshire, based in Shrewsbury, was rated Outstanding in four out of five inspection areas – effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
“With these ratings we are not only the best home care agency in Shrewsbury and Shropshire, but we are among the top 0.4% in the whole country,” a spokesperson said.
Only 45 home care agencies out of 9,384 registered with the CQC have achieved an Outstanding rating in four or more inspection areas.
“We would like to thank all our staff and let them know how proud we are of them all, without them this would not have been possible,” the spokesperson added.
Allcare Shropshire provides personal care and support to older people, adults with disabilities and people with dementia.
The CQC said in its report that inspectors were repeatedly told of occasions where staff had gone “above and beyond” what is expected of them, often in their own time. This included making special meals and taking people on trips.
The registered manager was also praised for being passionate about supporting older people and people living with dementia.
“They worked closely and extremely effectively with other organisations and groups promoting dementia awareness,” the report said.
Staff turnover was low, the report noted, and the management team encouraged and rewarded high performance and innovation.
Allcare was also praised for proactively planning care and support in partnership with service users. Clients told inspectors that staff “really listened” to their wishes and responded to their needs.
“The comments in our report are truly lovely we were extremely overwhelmed reading them. It has been extremely heartwarming to receive such a positive response to our news from our local community,” the Allcare spokesperson said.
