Consultus Care and Nursing has announced the launch of a nationwide recruitment campaign after witnessing a surge in demand for live-in care.

The provider, based in Kent, said it has seen “huge growth” in live-in care enquiries in recent months, after coronavirus highlighted the alternative model as the “safest and preferred choice of care”.

To keep up with this demand, Consultus is looking to recruit and train hundreds of carers and is offering a support package to help attract professionals from other sectors.

“As the UK formally enters recession caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, many individuals have sadly lost their jobs and many still face uncertainty when the Government’s Furlough Scheme comes to an end,” the provider said.

“Those working within the travel, hospitality and retail industries have been particularly hard hit. But, one role that will always be needed is that of a professional carer, and with this crisis shining a light on the essential role that carers perform, many are already seeing what a valuable and rewarding career caring can be.”

Incentives include a vocation package worth over £250 for all new carers, a loyalty package for returning and existing carers, wellbeing support and free COVID-19 testing at the Consultus head office.

Consultus Care and Nursing recently rolled out of a new COVID-19 testing scheme to help protect its clients and staff.

The provider says it plans to “plug the coronavirus testing gap” left by the UK government, which has “chosen to ignore” a large part of the care sector.
