Dr Jane Townson has been confirmed as the new CEO of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA) after serving as interim.

She was previously the CEO of Somerset Care Group, a not-for-profit provider of domiciliary, extra care and residential services.

Commenting on the appointment, Townson told Home Care Insight: “I am delighted to have joined UKHCA as the chief executive officer. During my initial interim period I visited a number of our member organisations and have been impressed by their enthusiasm for improving people’s lives. It is also inspiring to see providers exploring new ways of working to deliver quality homecare which is both effective and efficient.

“I am determined to make the case for a homecare sector which supports people to remain independent and well. We need a properly funded care system which values and develops its workforce. We also need to help people who fund their own care to find the high quality services which are available to them.”
