Professional carers from Carefound Home Care have given an inspiring insight into what supporting people living with dementia means to them.
In a new video, the staff members explain what they enjoy about caring for those with dementia, from building relationships and sharing memories, to being rewarded and enabling a happy and contented life.
Carefound Home Care, which has offices in Nottingham, Cheshire and Yorkshire, hopes the film will encourage more people to join the sector.
Care professionals working for the company are trained using the Contented Dementia Trust’s specialist approach, the SPECAL method, which treats dementia as a disability that can be managed, rather than trying to ignore or defeat it.
The SPECAL method has been shown to increase the person’s confidence and thereby slow the rate of deterioration; reduce the need for medication; enable the person to remain in their own home for significantly longer; and minimise the distress seen during and after a transition into a different care setting.
